OpenDyslexic Keyboard

Last updated: June 10, 2026

OpenDyslexic Keyboard ("the app") is developed by Emmanuel. This policy explains how the app handles information.

Summary

The app does not collect, store on a server, or transmit your personal data. All functionality runs on your device.

Information we do not collect

  • Keystrokes and typed content — The keyboard does not log what you type. Characters are delivered only to the app you are actively using, through standard iOS keyboard behavior.
  • Network data — The app and keyboard extension do not connect to the internet. Nothing you type is uploaded.
  • Analytics, advertising, or tracking — The app includes no analytics SDKs, ad networks, or third-party trackers.

Information stored on your device

The app saves a small set of local preferences using Apple's App Group storage so the host app and keyboard extension can share settings:

Setting Purpose
Haptic feedback on/off Whether key presses vibrate
Haptic intensity Strength of vibration (0.1–1.0)
Word suggestions on/off Whether the suggestion bar appears above the keys

This data stays on your device and is never transmitted off-device by this app.

Word suggestions

When suggestions are enabled, the keyboard uses Apple's on-device UITextChecker to offer spelling corrections and word completions. That processing happens locally on your iPhone or iPad.

Allow Full Access

iOS asks whether to grant Full Access when you add a third-party keyboard.

  • The keyboard works without Full Access. You can type normally even if Full Access is off.
  • Full Access is requested only for haptic feedback (vibration on key press). It is not used to read, record, or transmit your typing.
  • You can change this at any time: Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → OpenDyslexic → Allow Full Access.

Third-party services

The app does not integrate third-party services that receive user data.

The bundled OpenDyslexic font and KeyboardKit library are included in the app binary. They do not receive data from this app at runtime.

Children's privacy

The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
